Medical Skills 1/2 is designed to introduce the students to the health care profession. The course is designed to develop the student knowledge of the health care professions, build a foundation for basic patient care skills, and begin building a foundation of medical vocabulary. Guest speakers in the health sciences field and presentations will enhance the program and material covered in class.
Medical Skills 3/4 will expand on the information and skills learned in Medical Skills 1&2. Students will learn advanced medical skills and a better understanding of the human body, disease process and disorders. Guest speakers in the health sciences field and presentations will enhance the program and material covered in class. Medical terminology will also be covered when the corresponding systems of the body are studied. Successful completion of the Medical Terminology studies will allow students to receive three articulation credits. Students will also take the National Health Science Assessment.

Medical Skills students have an opportunity to participate in many leadership activities such as raising funds for the Children's Leukemia Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, American Red Cross blood drive, and Disaster Training drills. The students also have the opportunity to become certified in CPR/AED as well as learn professional rescuer first aid care.
